REGENERATION-THE WORK OF THE SPIRIT

Regeneration is a sovereign work of God (Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-8; Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:3) a radical work or total transformation (Ezek. 36:26-27; 1 Jn. 3:9) not just an addition...The SOURCE of regeneration is Christ (1 Pet 1:3; Eph 1:3, 2:4, 4:24; 2 Cor 5:17) The AGENT of regeneration is the Holy Spirit (Jn. 3:3-8; Titus 3:5) The INSTRUMENT of regeneration is the Word of God (Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23, 25) which precedes and causes faith (Jn 6:63-65, 1 jn 5:1, Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13) "God effects a change which is radical and all-pervasive, a change which cannot be explained in terms of any combination, permutation or accumulation of human resources, a change which is nothing less than a new creation by Him who calls the things that be not as though they were, who spoke and it was done, whocommanded and it stood fast. THE BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE

A man named Nicodemus came to Jesus by night. Perhaps he was afraid of criticism or he had a desire for a private conversation, or maybe he wanted to know more before committing himself to Jesus Christ. In any event, he came and asked Jesus some questions. Jesus looked at him and said, “Nicodemus, you need to be born again” (Cf. John 3:5). In fact, He said, “Verily, verily”—and any time Jesus used that expression, He meant that what was to follow was very important. Call it conversion, call it commitment, call it repentance, call it being saved, but has it happened to you? Does Christ live in your heart? Do you know it? Many people have thought a long time about religion and Christianity and yet have never made a commitment.  Are you committed to Jesus Christ? Nicodemus must have been stunned when Jesus said, “You must be born again.” It wouldn’t seem shocking ...

THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

They are: 1.  Gifts 2.  Ministries 3.  Effects 4.  Manifestations These can be found in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 As we study spiritual “things” it is important to know the DIFFERENCE between gifts and manifestations. Gifts are “things” given to us by God, naturally.  We “own” them.  We exercise them at WILL.  They are listed in Romans 12:6-8 . They are: 1.  Prophesying (or preaching) 2.  Serving 3.  Teaching 4.  Encouraging 5.  Giving 6.  Leading 7.  Mercy Manifestations, on the other hand, are ENABLEMENTS of the Holy Spirit ( Acts 2:4 ).  God controls these.  He gives them severally as He wills.  They are listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 . They are: 1.  Word of Wisdom 2.  Word of Knowledge 3.  Faith 4.  Gifts of Healing 5.  Effecting of Miracles 6.  Prophecy (Illumination not Revelation) 7.  Distinguishin...
